Storytelling 5K with Dare2tri

📍Chicago

Not your typical 5K! Run and hear live storytelling with our friends from Dare2tri.

About this event

Any athlete who’s trained for a big goal knows the highs and lows of a grueling season—and the race-day moments that stick with us, for better or worse, becoming part of our personal mythology.

There’s the shared misery that bonds us to our training partners, and the hilariously cringe-worthy moments that somehow turn into dinner party stories. Failure. Growth. Perseverance. As athletes, we carry a lot of stories—and for many in Chicago, those unfold along the lakefront.

As the city gears up for summer training, Read & Run Tours and Dare2tri are teaming up to celebrate the experiences of Dare2tri’s adaptive athletes and volunteers.

Along a 3.5-mile running route or 1.2-mile run or walk, enjoy nature and live storytelling at locations where they took place. You’ll hear about the races that changed athletes lives and the everyday joy of community.

After the Storytelling 5K, stick around for coffee and snacks and an introduction to being a sighted guide for a runner who is blind or visually impaired.

Whether you’re a longtime supporter of Dare2tri or never heard of adaptive sports, you’re invited to celebrate movement and community and support Dare2tri’s important work in Chicago and beyond.
